Welcome to the Jennie Candlish Racing Website!

Horses are in Jennie's blood. She began by riding and training Arabians, and enjoyed considerable success, eventually becoming Champion Trainer in the UK. As a result of that achievement, she was encouraged to make the switch to training thoroughbreds and was given the opportunity to take over the yard vacated by former trainer Andrew Streeter, who she had also worked with prior to his retirement from training. Since then she has built up the yard from having just a handful of horses to a string of over 40, who all receive individual attention from Jennie and her partner Alan O'Keeffe who is her assistant trainer. Jennie has managed to steadily build on her success by combining modern training methods with the same techniques and practices that she learned in the early days from some wise "old heads" and continues to get the best out of the horses, year-on-year recording excellent strike rates with horses of all levels of ability - but more "good" ones are always welcome!

Red Giant Makes It Two In A Row
with No Comments

Following his recent win at Market Rasen, RED GIANT was able to defy a 10lb rise in the handicap with another clear-cut display at Bangor last night. The three-mile handicap chase was run at a sound gallop, which suited him, and after going two lengths clear at the last he ran on strongly on the run-in, allowing Sean Quinlan to ease him near the finish to win by a comfortable … Read More

Red Giant Dwarfs The Opposition!
with No Comments

RED GIANT was always up with the pace and strode clear to win the Fishingadviser Events Handicap Chase in convincing style at Market Rasen yesterday. He took the lead at the 13th, and went clear approaching three out, staying on well to win by 11 lengths. He thoroughly deserved this success, which made up slightly for losing out on a win late last year when first he was past the … Read More

Hitting The Big Time at Hexham!
with No Comments

On just his second start for us since moving to the yard from Brian Ellison, BIG TIME DANCER more than justified his price by winning the maiden hurdle at Hexham today, going off at a skinny 6/4F. This was just his third start over hurdles, but he certainly had the form to win this. Sean Quinlan did everything right in the saddle, tracking the leaders until taking it up between … Read More

Tanarpino Comes Good Over Fences
with No Comments

TANARPINO had won a point to point in Ireland on his debut, and had also achieved three wins over hurdles since joining the yard, but coming into this race today he had yet to break his duck over fences, and was very unlucky last time at Uttoxeter when just nailed on the line to come second by a neck. On this occasion he managed to build on some good performances … Read More

Aqua Libre Enjoys Success at Bath
with No Comments

AQUA LIBRE, having her first run since October in the Molson Group Handicap at Bath, had raced on quick ground earlier in her career. Despite that, she seemed to have confined her best runs to the all-weather, where she won as a two year old. Since moving to the yard last year, we had only had the chance to try her on softer ground, so it was something of an … Read More

Zolfo Gets Off The Mark at Bangor
with No Comments

In the two and a half mile Handicap Chase at Bangor, a bold ride from the front sealed the result for ZOLFO, a 6 year old gelding by Cloudings. He was placed in a PTP in Ireland before coming over to England, and had also been placed a couple of times for us prior to this. He should have a good future, but despite his racecourse experience he is still … Read More
